Installation Manual - Titanium Controller

This manual guides the designer or installer through the physical installation and the electrical connections of the Titanium access controller.

Power Supply

The controller must be powered with 12 VDC ±5%. Consumption, without the readers and additional modules, is 120 mA.

Important

Use a regulated power supply sized to support the controller and all connected peripherals (readers, locks, etc.).

Card Reader Connections

The Titanium controller has interfaces for two readers of the ABATrack or Wiegand type. The terminals where the readers must be connected are identified on the printed circuit board.

Reader Voltage Selection

There is a jumper to select the supply voltage of each reader, with options of 5 VDC or 12 VDC.

Tip

The positions of each voltage option (12V or 5V) are identified on the printed circuit board next to each jumper.

Sensor and Command Button Connections

The command button (REX) and the door state sensor (PAS/DOOR SWITCH) must be connected to the signal input wires.

  • REX (Request to Exit): command button
  • PAS/DOOR SWITCH: door state / passage sensor
Important

The button and the sensor connected to these inputs must be of the dry contact type, potential-free.

Command Relay Connection

The controller has a command relay (LOCK) with the following capacities:

Caution

Observe these limits to ensure the integrity and service life of the relay contacts.

The relay is activated when the controller grants access. The relay activation time is adjusted during the controller configuration stage.

Serial Ports (UARTs)

The controller has two serial communication ports. The UART1 and UART2 ports are available for connecting various configurable communication devices.

They operate on the RS232 electrical standard and can supply 5 VDC to power the connected device, such as scanners. The current supplied by the controller is limited to 500 mA.

Special feature — UART3

In addition to UART1 and UART2 (associated with channels 1 and 2), the controller provides UART3 as a resource for special applications — for example, connecting an IODINE to add an extra card reader input. UART3 does not constitute a third control channel.

LCD Display

The controller is prepared for the connection of a display module (LCD). Communication with the display module uses the I2C protocol. The electrical level of the signals is TTL at 5 VDC.

Buttons and Indicators

The controller has two buttons that allow you to force a reset (boot) or to put it into configuration mode, and it has an LED that shows the state of the device's communication.

RESET button — forces the controller to restart (boot). Press it quickly to exit configuration mode.

MODE button — puts the controller into configuration mode. Press and hold for 5 seconds.

STATUS LED — provides information about the general state of communication.

Interpreting the STATUS LED

When the controller is in operation mode, the STATUS LED provides information about the general state of communication. Every two seconds a series of up to four quick blinks starts:

Diagnostics

When four blinks are counted in each cycle, the situation is normal. This check is very helpful during installation and maintenance to locate communication failures.

Starting the Configuration

The Titanium controller is configured through a browser. To start the configuration, follow the steps below.

1. Activate Configuration Mode

  1. Press and hold the MODE button for 5 seconds.
  2. The controller automatically starts in Configuration mode.
  3. The STATUS LED keeps blinking quickly, indicating that the mode is active.
  4. The controller activates a WiFi access point (AP mode) and starts accepting client connections.

2. Connect to the Controller's WiFi Network

The WiFi network point created by the controller has a unique and exclusive name (SSID) for each controller:

  • Format: titanium + identification code
  • Examples: titanium7512208F, titanium89C0CF6A

3. Access the Configuration Interface

  1. Connect to the controller's WiFi network.

  2. Open the browser and go to: http://192.168.4.1

  3. Enter the default credentials:

    • Username: admin
    • Password: titaniumpwd

Installation Recommendations

  1. Location: install the controller in a place protected from the weather.
  2. Ventilation: ensure adequate ventilation for heat dissipation.
  3. Grounding: connect the grounding system properly.
  4. Cabling: use shielded cables for readers in environments with interference.
  5. Protection: consider using surge protectors on the power supply.
